ONE GOOD BULLET DISCLAIMER

This blog is an assignment for CMP 272 Winter 2008 to allow students an opportunity to present valid arguments, generate feedback, and practice moderating skills in a technological environment.

Argument for using hollow point bullets for home invasions.

When using a firearm it matters what kind of ballistics you use in order to quickly deal with a perpetrator.

The most effective bullet to use for a home invasion is called a hollow point. Hollow point bullets are deadlier than full metal jacket (FMJ) bullets, and have more stopping power.

Hollow point bullets are characterized by having a concave depression cut into the tip. This type of setting helps in the bullet opening up and releasing more energy into the body cavity.

Hollow points are more accurate than FMJ's in hitting the intended target.

Hollow points won't go through walls like FMJ's, reducing the chances of killing innocent people.

In 2006 the FBI recorded 5,087 violent crimes in West Virginia alone. It is also a fact that one-quarter of violent crimes occur at the person's home.

Statistics show the people most at risk of violent crimes are teens and young adults. For those of us that are parents or have loved ones that fall in that category this fact is something we need to take heed to.

When our home, our family is in danger we want to be able to resolve the situation as quickly as possible. We may only have one shot reach our intended target so we need to make it count. One shot could be the difference between life and death.

You should feel safe at home. It should be a refuge against intruders and the outside world, a place of peace and comfort. Unfortunately, this is a mere illusion unless you take particular safeguards against home invasion.
